The cabinet — WBC, WBF and ABU gold
The ring years
2011–2021 in the paid ranks — a decade that carried the Zimbabwean flag far.
Charles Manyuchi’s name is woven into Zimbabwean sporting history. A welterweight who climbed from the amateur gyms of his home country to world-rated championship nights, he carried the flag into rings across a continent and beyond — and more often than not, carried the win back home with him.
In 2014 he reached the summit of his craft: the WBC Silver welterweight championship, the belt that put his name in every conversation about the 147-pound division. A reign of international defences followed, and further gold from the WBF and the African Boxing Union filled the cabinet beside it.
By the time he hung up the gloves, “Manyuchi” was no longer just a fighter’s surname. It was proof — for every kid lacing worn gloves in Harare or Bulawayo — that a Zimbabwean can climb to the very top of world boxing. The academy exists to make that climb shorter for the ones who come next.
The journey
From a kid in love with boxing to the man in the academy’s corner.
A kid in love with boxing
Zimbabwe. No golden gym, no promoter waiting at the gate — just a young fighter who keeps showing up, and works through the amateur ranks the hard way.
Turns professional
The paid ranks begin: away corners, hard lessons, and a reputation that starts travelling faster than he does.
WBC silver welterweight champion
The night Zimbabwe gets a world-rated champion again. The belt that puts the name Manyuchi in world boxing’s conversation.
Defences around the world
Championship nights across Africa and Europe, with WBF and African Boxing Union gold joining the cabinet beside the WBC belt.
The last bell
Retires from the ring after a decade in the paid ranks — and comes home with a plan: build the academy he wishes he had as a kid.
